Are the walls melting, or did I just pass into another dimension? This week’s feature on Maison Monday is a 3-D shelving system designed by Bjørn Jørund Blikstad that cleverly disguises itself as 2-D. Dubbed Imeüble, from a distance the shape and colours of this wall mounted unit combine to create an optical illusion that suggests a flat object. As you inch closer, depth becomes all the more apparent, and you realize that you’re initial perception was deceived. Lot’s of fantastic cubbyholes for keeping things orderly, and hopefully somewhere down the road Bjørn will release modular units that will allow for custom shapes to suit whatever room you choose.
